About CJ
C.J. McGroarty is a former reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer, where she wrote many hundreds of stories on a variety of subjects and learned something new every day. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Rosemont College and has taught English and writing to college students and adult learners.
C.J.’s fiction has been published in journals and magazines that include The MacGuffin, BloodLotus, Rathalla Review, Schuylkill Valley Journal, Dark City Mystery Magazine, Newtopia and Toasted Cheese.
She was surprised and gratified when her story “The Dying Season” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and a Story South Million Writers Award.
C.J. lives with her husband, Jim, an author and retired English professor, in suburban Philadelphia, where she feeds two stray cats and volunteers as a tour guide, program coordinator and gardener at Historic Waynesborough in Chester County. She feels blessed to be able to spend time at the craft of writing, a journey that has brought many rewards.
